Istahil underwent Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) at the age of six.
Istahil was born in Somalia where it is customary for young girls to be genitally mutilated. The awful memories of what was done to her at the age of six left a shattering imprint. Istahil hopes to inspire young women to join forces and help end Female Genital Mutilation practices.
The Zero Tolerance Day takes place every year on 6 February to raise awareness and attention for Female Genital Mutilation. Activities and meetings are organised all over the world.
